Appita Fibre Revolution Conference 2023 – Resounding Success

The Appita Fibre Revolution Conference 2023 has concluded, establishing a new standard for industry events in the pulp, paper, and packaging sector. This unique conference, spanning two days, stood out for its innovative approach to fostering dialogue and collaboration among attendees. Its interactive 'World Cafe' format was a key highlight, marking a departure from conventional conference styles and setting a new precedent for how industry challenges and opportunities can be collaboratively addressed and explored.

Spanning two powerful days, the conference united industry professionals to explore and shape the future of fibre-based manufacturing and packaging.

The first day, 23 November 2023, was dedicated to building industry strength through collective conversation. Facilitated by David Platt, CEO of Resilient Futures, the program encouraged meaningful dialogue among delegates. Topics discussed included the current and future operating environment, potential disruptive changes and their impact, opportunities and risks, future capability requirements, and the value of network strength within the industry.

Day one concluded with the Cocktail Awards Function, honouring outstanding achievements in the industry. Congratulations to Joshua Weavers, recipient of the Brice Charles Landman Memorial Award for Young Professional of the Year, and Russell Allan, who received the Oertel Nadebaum Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service to Appita.

On 24 November 2023, the conference delved into digital transformation and its impact, innovations for efficiency and sustainability, the future of paper and new fibre-based products and adapting to the dynamic workforce. Day 2 also featured the New Speaker Competition, spotlighting emerging voices in the industry. A big congratulations to Ana Serna from Norske Skog, our 2023 New Speaker winner! In a tight competition with Shally Nacis, Plant Engineer at Oji Fibre Solutions Kinleith, both presenters delivered exceptional performances!
