Over 73 technical papers will focus on the main theme of 'Biofuel/Bioenergy/Biorefining - threat or opportunity for pulp and paper?'  with the secondary theme of 'Water and energy conservation'.  The technical sessions will run concurrently from Monday to Wednesday.

 

Appita TechTalks are presentations and discussions aimed at operations people from pulp and paper mills.  They are designed to provide immediately useful, practical information that can be applied in the workplace to improve effectiveness. The TechTalks are: Mechanical Pulping (Tuesday), Debottlenecking Chemical Recovery (Wednesday), and Safety (Wednesday).

 

The Appita Asia and Environment Special Interest Groups are combining forces to hold a seminar on 'Carbon Trading', and the Management Group will hold a seminar on 'Benchmarking performance - how to be best of the best'.

 

The Appita Exhibition will once again feature state of the art displays of equipment and technology and services from local and overseas companies.  The exhibition already has the support of  27 confirmed exhibitors and have only 12 stands available - so book your stand now.  See below for more details.

New Award at 2008 Appita Conference 

The Appita Sustaining Members and Suppliers Group has announced a new award to be given at the Annual Conference, starting in 2008! The 'Best Mill Paper Award' is for the best technical paper by a mill person (or persons). The paper can be on any subject as long as the authors work in a pulp or paper mill. Judging will be by a specialist panel, and the winner will be decided on the quality of both the manuscript and the presentation. The Award will be to the value of AUD 2,000.00 and must be used for the professional development of the author(s).

 

The Best Mill Paper award is presented by the Appita Sustaining Members and Suppliers Group and in 2008 will be sponsored by Albany International, Huyck.Wangner Australia Pty Ltd, Papquip and Voith Paper (ANZ). 

  

Exhibition

Building on the success of previous years, the Appita 2008 Exhibition will include:

  • Internet Café - allowing access to email on site, with the opportunity to keep up to date with activities on the internet.
  • Morning/afternoon teas and lunches Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Pre-registration function Sunday evening.
  • After session refreshments Monday and Tuesday.
  • Exhibitors showcase in March Appita Journal and the Conference Information Booklet.
  • The Best Exhibitor Award - The winner will receive a Trophy and a complimentary booth at Appita 2009.
